The months of May and June have given me the hots for hibernation, but these tunes have woken me from my silent, sweet, slumber and have me boogying with Yogi and Boo Boo in our designated hibernation hangout – the cave. June is always a very exciting time in music as many artists drop their latest albums or singles, hoping to make it the northern hemisphere’s soundtrack to summer. This time last year, my ultimate favorite Adam Lambert, blessed us with his third studio album The Original High. This year he dropped a new single featuring Laleh that has me desperate to see him live again. So without further ado, welcome to the show.
Favorite Album: Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande
Another new release that has tickled my ear’s fancy is Ariana Grande’s latest album, Dangerous Woman. I really loved her previous album, My Everything, but she’s definitely kicked it up a notch- displaying a variety of genres mastered on this new album. You can expect everything from her usual pop anthems and ballads, jazz, house beats (which a lot of artists have been incorporating into their tracks lately) as well as r&b and hip-hop. Some reviews have criticised the album for being too diverse genre wise, but that is exactly why I love it. On this album Ariana collaborates with most of music’s elite, but my personal favorite has to be her duet on Leave Me Lonely with music industry heavyweight, Macy Gray. However, Macy’s legendary voice doesn’t overshadow Ariana’s eight octave range, but rather complements it like a vintage bouquet. If you haven’t listened to Dangerous Woman yet, I highly recommend that you give it a listen.
Some videos from the Dangerous Woman album that I’ve been loving
I’ve been binge-watching One Tree Hill religiously these past few months, which is why I’ve been delving into Apple Music’s rock type playlists, because I’m just trying to be as cool as Peyton Sawyer with her 80s metal and vinyl collection. No judgements please. It’s enough that my Google analytics bounce rate suggests that people always leave (my blog).
I hope you found some of your own favorites in this post to keep you warm this winter. If not, try watching One Tree Hill. The Scott brothers will have you hot and bothered in no time.
